Peru Rail Competition

Private competition for the railway company Peru Rail of its station in Ollantaytambo for the train to Machu Picchu.

The proposed architecture is based on the connecting with the outside spaces, taking advantage of the comfortable climate, which provides the authentic experience of the Sacred Valley. On the one hand, the parking area is rearranged proposing green areas, where pedestrians can walk and at the same time, feel the rural atmosphere. On the other hand, in the buildings, the spaces of the ticket office program are connected through courtyards and native gardens. The simplicity of the enclosed structures helps to give prominence to the gardens and green areas. The vegetation also invades the covered spaces, adding color with native flowers and light filtered by the trees. It is proposed to use native vegetation, which attracts birds and hummingbirds and has positive impact on the local ecosystem. Proposal developed in team with Ernesto Apolaya and Rodrigo Apolaya.
